Here in the south we like to do a little something called “Porch Sittin.” Some may also call it “Stoop Sittn.” When the weather is nice, particularity in the spring, people tend to sit on their porch and chill, likely with a cocktail or glass of wine in hand. SPB and I have been known to do some porch sittin at either one of our houses from time to time. Lately I’ve been doing quite a bit of porch sittin with the Bean. Even though we have a lovely fenced in back yard to hang out in, the girl is obsessed with the front porch. We go out there to blow bubbles and play with sidewalk chalk almost every day. She likes to see all the doggies and wave to the neighbors. It’s the inner New Orleanian/Socialite in her. I’ve been wanting to spruce up my porch a little but haven’t got around to it yet. I found some great front porch makeovers and inexpensive items to get my inspiration going.
I LOVE the yellow door. This is a very cute porch makeover that shows it doesn’t take a lot to really make an impact. Before and after pics here.
Another great makeover. Spray painting metal chairs is probably the cheapest and easiest way to add a great pop of color to your porch. You can always find chairs like this on craigslist or your local thrift stores. Before and after pics here.
A few more ways to spruce up a porch for a small amount of money is to add some colorful planters, cute accessories, or a great entry mat. SPB has some great mats on this post from a couple of weeks ago. Here a few finds that are pretty inexpensive:
